Who We Are

As a registered public charitable trust since 2000, Swabhimaan has been doing its best to provide community development services in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods of Bangalore.

Our work includes running three free health clinics (fourth one is on its way), daily food drives, small business support, and improving the quality of education through scholarships, pre- and post-school academy, NIOS center, livelihood programs, interest-free micro lending and much more.

Our Journey

2000
Adopted fifteen girl children.
2002
Signed an MOU with the Government schools in Rajendra Nagar and  appointed English teachers to these schools.
2003
Financed Interest free Micro Loans ranging between 5k - 30k to women to kick start their small business. We have empowered 350 women by providing them microloans since 2003.
2004
Established the first charity clinic to help the people of the slums gain access to basic healthcare. Swabhimaan has been operating 3 charity clinics since 2004.
2006
Started Scholarship schemes in the year 2006. We have granted 5000+ edu-scholarships till date.
2008
Initiated soft skill training sessions to empower youth.
2010
Trained many women, youth and differently abled. We sell paper & cloth bags which are made by these trained professionals across the city.
2012
Began surplus distribution of cooked meals from 5-star hotels, corporates in the city for hungry citizens.
2013
Started distribution of grocery kits worth INR 500 to 1,000 families in 2013. We now distribute grocery kits worth INR 500 to 2,500 families now.
2018
Established computer centre to train students in Typewriting,basic computer  knowledge,coding, and MS office and NIIT certificate to the trainees.
2019
Started Library and curated 2,000+ books.
2020
Distributed 10,000 boxes of cooked meals per day from 01-04-2020 till 20-01-2021. We have distributed grocery kits worth INR 600 to 2,500 families every month from April’2020. Organised 14 vaccination drives and vaccinated 12,000 people till date.
2021
Established Swabhimaan Academy curb the gap created due to virtual classes during pandemic. We tutor 220 students from various low-income private and government schools.
2022
Started NIOS, an open schooling center, for school dropouts to appear for their board exams.
